Rotating turntables are typically used for automating TIG clad welding and submerged arc cladding, where a flat workpiece is lined with circumferential weld.

The horizontal turntable can also enable a job to sit flat and allow a welding head assembly / tungsten / contact tip, to weld circumferential welds in the vertical position, whilst welding horizontally around a diameter.
