Dad

Nigel Fitzpatrick started off in engineering by getting a first class apprenticeship at Markham & Co. in Chesterfield, learning advanced mechanical and electrical engineering skills. His time spent at Markham laid the foundation for how he wanted to approach his own work, and in 1983 went on to setup his own business, Spectrum Welding Supplies Ltd.

The welding industry was in Nigel’s blood, and he loved everything and all that was welding, welding equipment, and the challenges of engineering. Through dogmatic, meticulous, and savant Rain Man level ability, he created a platform to enable Spectrum to become one of the biggest welding hire plant companies in the UK, with an exceptional reputation for quality, and knowledge.

Nigel had a gift for problem solving. When combined with expertise, determinism, pride, and ability, it meant that no job ever beat him, and customers could rely upon his company to offer quality services to the highest standard. Nigel was a precision engineer, and he loved his work, enjoying every day. His mechanical and electrical genius with welding equipment set him apart, and nothing got over-looked, making him the best in the industry at what he did. This incredible and rare skillset, phenomenal depth of knowledge, dogged hard working mentality, and thorough approach, meant the company he grew was always in demand.

Nigel was an inspirational success story to so many, and especially to his son, Joe, who has worked by his side for 20 years, who continues to run his company in his dad’s honour, and forever grateful to him for teaching important values, and the high standards what a company should aspire to.
