Face plate jaws are designed for clamping extra wide jobs, whereby you can fit the jaws far out towards the edge of a welding positioner table. When these jaws are bolted to an ‘X’ jig (see picture here), where the steel beams go beyond the edge of the table, and the X-Jig is then bolted to the table, there is no diameter limited to how wide you can clamp.
These are a medium duty jaw that can accommodate up to 4 tonnes (see load chart below).
The benefit of having 4 off independent jaws is that you can set each one up for ‘offset‘ clamping. This means you can attach a job ie. a pipe to any each of the table surface (doesn’t have to be the centre), which gives you the opportunity to create counter-balance (if there is a elbow joint sticking out), and prevent a job from fouling on the floor once titled & rotated.
