This machine goes up to 380amps MAX and can weld @ full power for 4 minutes and 6 minutes cool down (before thermal trip cuts the machine out). A diesel welder generator should never be used in this way.

6mm air arc gouging carbons require 350amps to burn in smooth, so you’d be having the machine set as nearly full pelt and the thermal trip will come on after a few minutes and the engine will cut out.

Air arc gouging tends to require long duration cuts, so the Arc Gen 500amp is needed.

The 500 model can only go up to 450amps (@ 40% duty), and can gouge an 8mm carbon nicely. Attempting 10mm carbons @ 450amps will result in slow underpowered gouging, and eventually machine failure due to full power burn out.

Our Arc Gen 400 & 500 CC/CV stock have had the 110V 32amp auxiliary socket transformer upgrade conversion kit fitted for increased kVA output and bigger fuse / trip rating. This doesn’t come as standard, but our machines will have it included.
