Product Description
MB36 AIR COOLED TORCH DUTY RATING:
- 100amps @ 200% duty = 20 minutes continuous / 10 minutes cool down
- 200amps @ 100% duty = 10 minutes continuous / 10 minutes cool down
- 300amps @ 40% duty = 4 minutes continuous / 6 minutes cool down
- 360amps @ 10% duty = 1 minute maximum / 20 minutes cool down
ISSUES WITH AIR COOLED TORCHES WHEN OVERHEATING:
- Weld Porosity: The most common symptom of inadequate shielding (heat can distort the gas coverage). Pockets of air trapped in the weld result in small holes in the weld bead (is shielding gas has been affected by torch over heating), significantly weakening its structural integrity
- Excessive Spatter: A less stable arc, often caused by insufficient gas flow or turbulence, leads to an increase in metal droplets flying from the weld pool
- Weld Contamination/Oxidation: Brown or black staining around the weld area, indicating the molten metal reacted with the atmosphere (oxygen and nitrogen)
- Poor Weld Shape/Bead Appearance: Inconsistent welds, undercutting, or surface irregularities due to a compromised weld pool and arc stability
- Torch Overheating: High amps generate significant heat and exceeding this duty cycle will cause the torch body, liner, and consumables to overheat, which in turn affects gas flow and wire feeding, exacerbating the problem
