FAQ — RENTAL (Hire Services)
1 . What equipment can I hire?
We rent the UK’s largest fleet of welding, cutting, positioning and fume-extraction plant—including MIG, TIG, MMA, Sub-Arc, generators, rotators and column-&-boom systems.
2 . How do I book a hire?
Call 01246 205 267 or email hire@spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk with job details. We’ll advise the right spec and send a quote. A purchase order or signed hire agreement confirms the booking.
3 . What are your hire rates and billing terms?
Charges are weekly; invoices are issued 30 days end-of-month for ongoing hires. Payment is due 30 days EOM by BACS or card. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
4 . Is there a minimum hire period or deposit?
Minimum charge is one week. Long-term “hire-to-buy” contracts may require an agreed deposit; if you off-hire early the full contract value still applies. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
5 . Who arranges transport?
We can quote delivery/collection, or you may use your own haulier. All transport costs are the customer’s responsibility.
6 . What condition must I return the equipment in?
Exactly as received—clean, undamaged and complete. Cleaning fees apply if required. Damage is chargeable; total loss or write-off is invoiced at full new replacement value. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
7 . Are torches and filters included?
Yes, but they’re wearable consumables. Used or damaged torches and partially loaded filters are billed pro-rata; replacements are available on request. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
8 . What if the machine is damaged through misuse or over-loading?
Damage arising from abuse, over-duty, adverse weather or over-loading is chargeable, and hire downtime is billed at the normal weekly rate until repairs are complete. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
9 . How do I off-hire?
Email joe@spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk to request off-hire and obtain an off-hire reference number. Hire charges stop only when the reference is issued. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
10 . Do long-term hires need servicing?
Yes. Service intervals are agreed case-by-case and are carried out by Spectrum. The customer pays service labour and transport and must return the plant to Chesterfield for scheduled servicing. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
11 . What if the equipment breaks down on hire?
We’ll do our best to repair or swap the unit quickly, but we are not liable for consequential loss or loss of earnings. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
12 . Do you cover all of the UK?
Yes, with one exception: diesel generator hires include a 100-mile radius limitation for on-site breakdown collection—beyond that the customer must arrange return transport. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
13 . Can Spectrum cancel my hire?
Spectrum may terminate any hire at any time and collect the plant. Failure to allow collection can incur aborted-collection fees and legal action. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
14 . What happens if I cancel a pre-booked hire?
Cancelled bookings incur “loss-of-hire” fees equal to the quoted weekly rate for the period between your booking date and the cancellation date. spectrumweldingsupplies.co.uk
