1140mm 3-jaw chuck for hire

TO HIRE 1140MM @ £150 p/week

+ 3 TONNE POSITIONER @ £250 p/week

+ 5 TONNE POSITIONER @ £300 p/week

A beautiful design extra-large capacity 3-jaw clamping chuck for big pipes and big flanges. We also manufacture the drilled and tapped 1000mm x 15mm backing plate, including fixing to rental 3 tonne welding positioner table.

This model has very clever and simple jaw adjustment, with an 8mm and 12mm allen key included.

The chuck stem and key allows for quick inching in and inching out on clamping, and a battery powered impact gun with socket & square is even quicker.

The slimline red body design means the chuck doesn’t stick too far out from the welding positioner, which reduces the welding positioner load capacity by 350kg and 195mm (deduct off the load chart when calculating job weight).

    SAFETY NOTE

    • ALWAYS factor in / deduct 350kg chuck weight and 195mm ‘stick out’ in relation to positioner load chart
    • ‘External’ clamping = On the outside of the job ie. pipe / flange / steel
    • ‘Internal’ clamping = On the inside of the pipe (jaws pressing outwards)
    • Internal clamping only offers 1/2 the load capacity due to gripping issues / weight not pressing on jaws with full torque (as opposed to compressed external clamping)
    • We do not recommend internal clamping on the inside of the pipe diameter (external only). When warmed up, the pipe expands and will fall off
    • Always grip the job inside the jaw surface area that has teeth grooves (not the smooth side)
    • Load capacity varies subject to the jaw face surface area gripping to the job ie. flange or pipe
    • If a flange is being gripped inside the jaws, the surface area will be less than the surface of pipe inside the jaws
    • Inverted jaws only have 1/2 surface area (1/2 capacity) compared to standard full face grip
    • The weight & stick out of the chuck must be factored into the welding positioner load capacity when fitted to the table
    • Always check with Spectrum before clamping heavy loads inside chuck jaws to ensure safe grip
