Ranger 305 repaired and serviced

Our repairs department is set up to accomodate any and all welding equipment.

Today we are repairing and servicing a Lincoln Electric Ranger 305 diesel welder generator. We found the machine had ‘diesel bug’, which is a microbial contamination of diesel by bacteria, fungi, and yeast. This is primarily caused by the presence of water, usually down the exhaust or in the fuel itself. If water is present in the tank of a machine that sits dorment for long periods, expect these sort of blockages. When also ran dry, the sludge deposits sat at the bottom of the tank will get sucked up through the pipes and stop the engine from working.

This contamination forms a slime or sludge at the bottom of the tank, and leads to issues like clogged filters, black smoke, difficulty starting, and increased fuel consumption.
