Joe goes to… do nice sub arc welds

A fabulous result with our rental submerged arc tractor welders. Every weld was perfect, passed NDT and inspection.

This particular rental ESAB A2 PEK hire plant tractor welder setup was really interesting because of the way we fabricated the track and fitted it to the beams, intended for guaranteed perfectly straight, extra-long length beam welds. It meant that when the A2 tractor came to the end of its very long run, the tractor could be lifted and spun round to go back in the opposite direction, with no need to move any fabricated track. This allowed the tip to reach all the various weld preps along the beam that needed doing on both sides, by sitting the opposite 2-wheels in the steel groove and spinning the central stem.
